Credit Manager                                                                                                       August 2008

                                         

Position Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Position Summary

Reporting to the CFO, the Credit Manager is responsible for administering and enforcing credit and collection policies, evaluating credit risk, following up and collecting from major accounts, developing plans and strategies to reduce exposure and write offs, working with sales management team to ensure an appropriate balance between credit risk and sales.

 

The Credit Manager will plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate activities of the credit department for Canada and USA. The duties demand strong communication skills to be able to deal effectively with people at all levels within and outside the organization.  The credit manager will be responsible for recommending and implementing changes to the credit policy and procedures manual. This position will have 2 accounts receivable direct reports.

 

Position Accountabilities

 Manage, maintain and optimize the accounts receivable function and staff

  • Responsible for corporate accounts ensuring maximum collections are realized daily while minimizing bad debt exposure
  • Reduce the DSO without having a detrimental effect on sales
  • Analyze credit risk and approve or decline credit requests
  • Prepare credit and loans reports for senior management
  • Process all new customer credit applications with the approval of senior management
  • Assist and direct credit team in clearing balances on customer accounts. All correspondence with customers is to be logged into customer notes
  • Work with customer service and sales on order processing and collections issues
  • Manage bankruptcies, breach of trust and lien actions
  • Actively seek continuous improvement to daily credit processes
  • Guide staff on collections and dispute resolution with both internal and external customers
  • Follow up on collection calls escalated by the credit staff
  • Monitor collections/age trial balance period percentages and days outstanding
  • Responsible for month-end, quarterly and year end functions: monthly bad debt provisions, year end entries for bad debts, year end roll forward for the new year, monthly AR close and audit confirmations

Skills:

  • U.S. credit experience is required
  • Skilled at readying, analyzing and interpreting financial reports, credit reports and legal documents
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Tactful and diplomatic in communicating with internal and external customers at all levels
  • Ability and willingness to handle conflict
  • Experience with delegating, coaching and performance management
  • Intermediate Excel experience
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Able to prioritize and execute in a high-pressure environment
  • Highly self motivated and directed

Minimum Education:

  • A university degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or related field is required. Enrollment with the CGA designation program is a definite asset.
  • Accounting and or credit designation is preferred (FCI/ CCP or ACI) 

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years commercial credit risk and collection experience
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/management experience in accounts receivable

Technical Sales Representative                                August 2008

Position Location:  Southeast United States

 

This position is responsible for creating value by providing sales and technical service to Arclin’s North American Natural Resources and A&E customers mainly in the Southeastern United States. This person should have a thorough knowledge of the resin manufacturing process and NR and A&E markets to ensure that the best possible products are being supplied in a manner that meets financial objectives and is consistent with the goals and mission of Arclin.  This person is also responsible for developing customer relationships and working closely with Manufacturing and Research and Technology to make recommendations on process and product development.

 

Responsibilities

  • Calls on customers to sell and service products in an assigned territory.  Maintains contact with current customers to retain existing business and keep up to date on customer requirements. 
  • Seeks new business opportunities with current and prospective customers.

Maintains and develops understanding of current products as well as new product lines as they develop.

  • Provides field support for customer resin and process issues
  • Determines short and long term needs of the customer and work with the respective GM and Technology managers to communicate customer needs to Arclin organization
  • Prepares call reports, activity summaries and reports regarding territory operation.  Expense account reporting
  • Maintains intra-company relations with company contacts in technical service, credit dept., human resources and total quality department
  • Assists in the development of strategic plans for the business segments as well as sales forecasts/budgets
  • Attends product information meetings/industry seminars

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree or Technical School Diploma in Chemistry/Business or related discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in related industry or technical service activity is required – previous experience in Sales / Marketing would be considered an asset especially in the Natural Resources (such as Fertilizer, Oil Field Chemicals and Mining) and A&E Markets (such as Abrasives, Filtration, Refractory and Foundry).
